Chinese mobile phone operator China Mobile recently announced that the company and several telecom operators worldwide will collaborate in the establishment of TD-LTE (Time Division-Long Term Evolution) demonstration networks in their respective countries in the second half of 2010, the China Daily News reported. China Mobile stated that telecom operators are originally from Asia, Europe, and North America without specifying the name of companies who are interested in developing TD-LTE networks.

 

China Mobile already set up a TD-LTE demonstration network deployed prior to the commencement of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, planning to expand the network coverage to more Chinese cities in the upcoming months, according to the same source. China Mobile's TD-LTE network is slated for commercialization in the next to 12 months, according again to the China Daily News, citing Bill Huang, general manager of China Mobile Research Institute, adding that deliverables for telecom operators worldwide will include wireless WAN (Wide Area Network) cards and wireless routers by the end of 2010. To date, a total of 64 telecom operators from 31 countries and regions have announced their LTE commercialization plans, 22 of which will kick off network deployment plans some time in 2010 and the rest will begin by the end of 2012, according to the Global Mobile Suppliers Association.
